Healthy parents

We have all heard the saying "you can't pour from an empty cup". Healthy mothers, fathers, caregivers and guardians create healthy children. The responsible adult in a child's life that is emotionally, physically, financially and mentally well will have the strength, love, endurance required to raise healthy children. Mothers seem to be the invisible visible thread in our society. By providing mothers especially, those that have been traumatized by violence in their lives, the support they need, we are essentially securing the future of our nation. In order to form secure bonds with children, often women who have experienced trauma related to violence, need support to deal with self-soothing and self-regulation. Some of the ways this can be done includes mindful self-awareness, having active optimism, self-care and the embracing of life’s complexities.
